We Make Events – Scotland

What are we doing?

Technicians, Crew, Artists and those in the supply chain for live events – Wednesday 30th September is our Global Day of Action.

25 countries and growing will Stand As One to highlight the need for continued support from their respective governments if the live events industry is to continue.

The Global Day of Action is happening on Wednesday 30th September with the main reasons why we’re doing this remaining unchanged:

  • To let the press and the public know what is happening and how our struggle will impact all of society.
  • To continue to creatively express to governments that we exist, we need help, and the huge contribution we make to our economy.
  • To empower event professionals around the world to collectively STAND AS ONE.

#LightItInRed – buildings, venues and structures illuminated red with our signature expression of Red Alert. Switch on is from: 8pm local time – Venues, buildings, structures, warehouses, trucks and homes to Light It In Red to highlight all those affected by the current situation in our industry.

Shine a Light – 60 strategically placed shafts of white light beamed up into the night sky each one signifying 10,000 potential job losses.

Scotlands beam sites for Shine A Light are in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling, Dumfries & Galloway, Shetland and Perth.

Inside Out – unique projections of what would have been taking place inside a venue, onto the outside of the empty venues reminding the press and the public of what they are missing and may never recover.

Creative & Art installations– illustrating the numbers of event professionals either already out of work or expecting to be soon.

These are just some of many creative events that will take place.

WME Demo Edinburgh 30th September

We have submitted the plans for our proposed action on Wednesday 30th in Edinburgh. Agreement to proceed has been given following a meeting with local authorities on Monday 28th Sept.

We have waited until permission before releasing information on the location of the planned action in Edinburgh for the 30th on account of the changing legislation and guidance on what we can and cannot do with respect to the current public health crisis.

We are in continuing liaison with the local authorities to monitor the conditions under which we can proceed. Most UK physical attendance protests have been blocked.
